This gold-edged Transcontinental Air Transport card shows a Ford Trimotor being loaded beside a steam locomotive, under TAT's arrow logo and the line Coast to Coast by Train and Plane, with a St. Louis traffic manager's details at right. TAT, founded in 1928 with Charles Lindbergh chairing its technical committee, opened its air-rail service on 7 July 1929: trains by night, Trimotors by day, New York to California in 48 hours. In October 1930 it merged with Western Air Express to form the airline that became TWA.
