This 1960 Trans-Australia Airlines timetable cover shows the TAA wordmark above a map of Australia criss-crossed with red route lines, with a smiling hostess and the invitation to fly TAA the friendly way. TAA was founded on 12 February 1946 as a government-owned domestic airline and began flying that September. It became one of the country's two major domestic carriers, was renamed Australian Airlines in 1986, and was acquired by Qantas in 1992 before its name disappeared in 1994.
