Transcontinental and Western Air put Douglas DC-2s into service in May 1934, after the Douglas DC-1 it sponsored set a transcontinental record that February, and added DC-3s in 1937. The Lindbergh Line nickname honored Charles Lindbergh's role in the airline's origins.
