Now the Bear Flies TWA, says this white oval sticker, with red speed stripes and a small black bear on a shield, the heraldic bear of Berlin. TWA kept a pilot base in Berlin for Boeing 727s flying its European routes, and the sticker plays on that Berlin connection with a cheerful Cold War-era wink. Trans World Airlines, which grew from Transcontinental and Western Air in 1930, became one of America's great international carriers before American Airlines acquired its assets in 2001.
