San Francisco-born illustrator Stan Galli (1912-2009) painted a run of bright, modern destination posters for United Air Lines in the 1950s and early 1960s, and dealers count this 1960 Disneyland design among the rarest of them. It puts the viewer on the Jungle Cruise: a launch full of park visitors watches a hippo surface from the river, with the Disneyland name lettered above. Galli knew the West Coast well, and his United posters sold the sunny, family-vacation West that the airline's routes were bringing within reach of travelers from the East and Midwest.
