Issued in English for travelers abroad, "By Air to USSR" urges them to "use the fast air lines which link all Europe" with the Soviet Union's chief cities. A streamlined airliner sweeps across the bright yellow sheet above a web of route lines fanning out across the map. The poster dates from around 1934 and was published by Intourist, the Soviet state travel agency founded in 1929 to bring foreign visitors to the USSR. Like most Intourist posters, its designer went uncredited, and its crisp Art Deco styling sold speed and modernity.
